Again police mistreats black men

At the height of the unrest in Baltimore last year, 18-year-old Allen Bullock climbed on top of a police cruiser, raised an orange traffic cone over his head and smashed it through the car’s windshield. He did this action because he had lost a friend of his whose name is Freddie Gray that had been killed because of the cruel treats given to him by the police. A year after the Baltimore uprising, he’s one of the only people serving significant time for the incidents surrounding Gray’s death. He was given serving six months of a potential 12-year prison sentence. And while Bullock may have eventually gotten out of jail while he awaited trial, Gordon says Baltimore police continued to harass his client over the following months.

The interesting part of this story is that yet Bullock’s actions were dangerous and were done way over, I think it still had a political speech that not to look down on Blacks. But still they cannot be treated as normal white men would be treated in the city.

MLB players tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs one after another!

Major League Baseball is under a chaotic state after April because 6 famous players, such as Dee Gordon of Miami Marlins, tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. As a consequence, the organization announced a suspension of next 80 games for those who violated Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Give that there were just 6 PEDs suspensions throughout the last year, the number of the violation is increasing at an abnormal pace in this year.

I can partly praise that MLB’s drug testing worked and contributed to maintain fair baseball games without PED users. On the other hand, MLB has to tackle with the issue very seriously because it miserably failed to prevent the players from taking advantage of drugs. In my opinion, MLB should think of applying severer penalties to reinforce the deterrence of PED uses. Instead of tolerating the offenders with a 80 games suspension, they deserve to be expelled from MLB forever for the first violation.

"It takes place in the future, unlike the past you envision"

The first gender-neutral bathroom in the Los Angels Unified School District was officially opened  in the middle of April. Students at Santee Education Complex had been advocating for a gender-neutral bathroom since January. They succeeded in persuading school authorities with a petition that boasts over 700 signatures. Although some protesters emerged and did a demonstration with a sign that says "Homo Sex Is Sin", students at Santee fought for the change and no protesters turned up on the next day.

Meanwhile in North Carolina, where the government passed the bathroom bill* on March, a team that criticizes the controversial legislation has been developing. The team is called "LawBreakers" and CEO Cliff Bleszinski mentioned North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory in his tweet, "It takes place in the future, unlike the past you envision."

In my view, the bathroom war is consisted of three parties, eager LGBT activists, radical Christians and people who are afraid of the increase of sexual assaults. However, I agree with Santee school official on the opinion that says "bullying and harassment can occur in any bathrooms." If LGBT activists could persuade those people who are afraid of the negative result, with evidence that proves there is no correlation between gender-segregation and numbers of sexual assaults, gender-neutral bathroom will widely be accepted in the future.

(*bathroom bill: North Carolina House Bill 2, which forces people to use bathrooms and locker rooms based on the gender listed on their birth certificate.)

A relation of Nikkei and JPY

Who want to be rich?

There is a way to be rich. An Investment.

I have a friend who made money through an investment. Last year, He predicted Japan market went down, and bet on it. It was right. He got rewards.

Then, he went Philippine to learn English, engineering and he launched his own services and started to sell it.

He has a new language, new skills, new friends, and a flood of money. I don't care about money but there is no doubt that what he's done is fascinating.

An Investment. Some articles show there is something between Nikkei stock price and Yen exchange rate.

It might be true because it seems they have something, but the mechanism is unclear.

I could say, it just an illusion of a market. The market is too complex to understand.
The price of Yen, and The price of Dollar which has an influence on Yen, The price of Nikkei stock and The market demand which has an influence on the stock price, are always changing.
and the relation is not clear.

Then, how would that happen the apparent relevant between Nikkei and Yen? The reason may be simple. Increasing of earnings in abroad.

A strong Yen is good for exporting. In other words, When a yen price going up, the earnings also going up.
The earnings going up, the stock price going up.

If you want to make money, buy stocks of a global company when yes is weak might be a way to be rich.

The Ninth: restaurant review

The writing is a review towards the restaurant called "The Ninth". It's opened by a chef named Jun Tanaka on London's Charlotte Street. The name was determined because it's the ninth restaurant he's been involved.

The writer turns up to think this restaurant is amazing. He admires its foods in very humorous and unique way. Here is the sample of what he says.

"The killer detail is the limpid pool of a perfectly clarified oxtail consomme in which all this sits; it's the very essence of moo"
"Sip some of this, and then realize they are wasting everybody's time and money"
"It barely needs saying, but make a dish like this you need the kind of formal training that only Tanaka's eight restaurant-long career so far could gift him"

At the end, he concluded that he does not think Tanaka needs to move on to his 10th establishment any day soon because the restaurant is surely an awesome one.

It's time for the US to bring from the UK "paw-ternity"

[https://www.google.co.jp/search?q=paw-ternity&biw=1242&bih=571&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwieuMeM3MrMAhVJJ5QKHZVODAMQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=doGOWhSvX2WyEM%3A]
When your lovely pet faces some problems, can you go company? Or taking care of your pets? And then, if you want to absent company because you choose with your pet, your boss can understand your circumstance?
Well, probably no. You cannot tell the truth to your boss because if you absent company because of your lovely pets, you get mocked by your boss and other co-workers at least recent social circumstance. But, most people can understand doing absent for your family (like baby or parents)have some problems. Although pets are also precious family, why social perspective is negative about absent or receiving leave because of pets?
According to this article, pet owners deserve family leave too such as maternity leave. I am in favor of this opinion. There is only one person can take care of pet, is me. Even, they cannot tell me their pain when they suffer from illness. It can be to blame when I absent company, I think that the life also comes first in any situations. Especially, small pets face emergency easily even if pet owners neglect them just a one day.

In recent America, some companies tended to increase offering their co-workers when pet owners lose their pets like having death in the family. These companies’ consideration is not ruled by law, but these companies recognize that the co-worker who lost their pet need to some times to comfort their mind and overcome faced situation. However, the US is also lagging behind the UK in terms of “paw-ternity”. That is, in the US, most co-workers did not offer time off to care for their four-legged kids.

What's Goin' On At Mizzou? Yale?

Universities across the U.S are becoming very delicate over the problem of equality. This is due to the recent protests done by university students.
Racial problems are still a big issue in the States, especially since the country is very multi-cultural. However, some universities have taken the phenomenon way too seriously, making rules and programs that just seem afraid of the protests and don't get to the crucial point of the whole problem.
Take Yale for instance. Yale is now "encouraging the campus community to confront the history of slavery and... to teach the legacy."
The University of Missouri is also doing a similar change. They stated that "... MU's Faculty Council Committee on Race Relations is releasing a new video series that aims to educate white students and faculty about white supremacy and racism of campus."

These two universities are implying these programs and rules to re-educate young students that discrimination is bad, and that it should be taught first-handed since they no longer live in a world where obvious discrimination is a daily occurrence. However, what is happening at the universities don’t seem like they want to re-educate, but rather, it seems as if the rules are discriminating white people. This surely will not help schools end the protests; as a matter a fact, it might increase the voltage of the collision.

Is Apple Dead?

 Apple is now going dead.
On April 26th, the company posted its declining quarterly revenue; it is dropped by $7.4 billion, compared with that of the same period last year.

Then, what is the cause of Apple's slump?
It is iPhone. Apple depends so much on the device; about two-thirds of their revenue comes from iPhone, but its shipments decreased by 11million from last year.
Furthermore, a tough competitor is growing; Samsung exceeded Apple in market-share in the U.S. by 5%, according to a report from Counterpoint Research. Also in China, Samsung and HTC are replacing iPhone.

However, I think Apple is not yet dead; they still make $10 billion profit. In addition to the earnings, Apple has a great market-share especially in Japan.
Despite their status, Apple will not be able to stop going dead, unless they establish new strategies.

Does Obama have a good comedy sense?

On April 30, Obama made a speech at his final White House Correspondents’ Dinner. In his speech he took humorous jabs at the Presidential Election as follows:

“Guest [RNC members] were asked if they wanted steak or fish, and a whole bunch of you wrote in Paul Ryan [some members want him to run for the election]”
“...my approval ratings keep going up. The last time I was this high, I was trying to decide on my major.”
“Hillary trying to appeal to young voters is a little bit like your relative just signing up for Facebook; ‘Did you get my poke?’”

I think all his jabs are bitter ironies that tell dilemmas of this election; Republicans are compelled to choose between the insensitive billionaire or the eccentric senator; Hillary has tough games against our expectations; People may miss Obama’s America.
Overall, it seems that these jokes imply many Americans don’t feel drawn towards the candidates. I found the incumbent president mocking these dilemmas with jokes has a good comedy sense.

Nerd Fashion Makes a Comeback

Nerd fashion is coming back.
The nerds mentioned here are not the tech nerds wearing hoodies. They are more of the stereotypical type of nerds we may think of from the 70’s~90’s, wearing plaid skirts, high-water pants, and geeky glasses.

These styles are making a comeback in the fashion industry since Gucci’s last autumn collection, followed by other high fashion brands such as Prada.
In addition celebrities such as Lupita Nyong’o, who played Maz Kanata in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is also with this trend by appearing in front of the camera with an orchid colored dress and geek-chic glasses.

So why is nerd fashion coming back?

Compared to what the world was before, since the 21st century, many people are becoming to have broader perspectives on the things around us. For example, children who were called quirky and weird are now told that their weirdness is their uniqueness, and are told to be proud of who they are. Gender issues are also being treated from a taboo topic to more of an issue that needs attention. Therefore in the same way, there are maybe notions of favoring the old-school style of the nerds, in which was once “the odd,” as now the contemporary fashion.

Anglina Jolie and Brad Pitt

There were rumors that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are going to get divorced. Some said that Brad Pitt was getting fed up with hearing about his wife's alleged sex and drugs "diary confessions". However the rumor turned out to be false. Also some said that Angelina Jolie got jealous with Selena Gomez.
There are other rumors that Brad Pitt is cheating on Angelina Jolie with a French actress, Marion Cotillard.
However, none of the gossips have no source, so whether it is true or false is a mystery.

Who’s Afraid of Gender-Neutral Bathrooms?

For those who are gender non-conforming, it is hard to decide which bathroom to use.
When one's appearance or biological sex don't match his/her sexual identity, it often causes a trouble especially in the gender-segregated places such as bathrooms.
Historically, there was time where men and women were segregated in various ways in order to protect women from the crude danger of the male world. However, times have changed and people are seeking for equality now. Perhaps, the public bathroom is the only everyday social institution in which separation by gender is the norm.
Why don't make all the bathrooms gender neutral then?
Apparently, this is a both social custom and laws themselves. A part of the problem is that businesses are legally prohibited from offering only gender-neutral bathrooms.
Another problem is that there are certain amount of people who think gender neutral bathrooms would result in the increase of sexual assaults. In fact, Indiana has recently proposed a law that would make it a crime for a person to enter a single-sex public bathroom that does not match the person's biological gender.
However the correlation between the effect of gender neutral bathroom and sexual assaults is not based on or supported by statistics.

Personally I think gender-neutral bathrooms are also good for women if we could think it as a remedy for  an enormous line for the women's bathroom. I do not think it would directly cause the increase of sexual assaults. There are lots of cafes and restaurants that have only gender-neutral bathrooms in Tokyo. However, if closed stalls would shield others from view, there seems to be no difference between gender-segregated and gender-neutral. Revising  the existing laws might not be so easy but gender-neutral bathroom should be accepted widely.

Gap kids accused of passive racism in new advertisement

What do you think and how do you feel when you see this advertisement?

This is an advertisement from Gap Kids x ED. It's a promotion aimed at empowering girls. As you can see we can see girls who are energetic and taking a pose in a cool way.

However Gap`s aim was to empower girls, this advertisement is said that it may have a political message as undermining young black girls.

On this picture we can find a white girl who is resting her arm on top of the black girl.  It is just a pose for promoting gap, but large number of Americans didn’t seem to take the picture so. By hearing the public opinion toward this, Gap spokeswoman Debbie Felix promptly apologized for the situation before promising to remove the seemingly innocent photo.

Why is Harvard trying to Ban Single Gender Finals Clubs?

Harvard, the worldly famous university, is about to make an enormous decision.
Harvard’s exclusive single-sex social clubs, known as “final clubs, have been the center of Harvard's elitism and symbol of wealth from the 1790's. Unlike the image society has with them, the club was formerly made by a group of men who were tired of the food helpings provided by the university. However, there is no trace to what was the founding reason of the club now as the final clubs have now become the problem of the school. The final clubs are now the place for women to be sexually assaulted. It is reported that 47 percent of the women who participated in final club activities experienced “non-consensual sexual contact.”
It is no wonder that the final clubs, which mostly are the names of all men clubs, do not allow women to join the club. If there are women in the final clubs, there will be less chances of the horrible men assaulting women.

How Democrats Corrupt the English Language

"Basically, all of life is a giant loophole until Democrats come up with a way to regulate or tax it.  In its economic usage, “loophole”— probably more of a dysphemism—creates the false impression that people are getting away with breaking the law or doing something unethical. It’s a way to skip the entire debate portion of the conversation and get right to the accusation."

Can you imagine that how many corgis raised by Elizabeth?

There are numerous species of dogs in the world. However, probably the corgis are more meaningful in the England. Because Queen Elizabeth breeds corgis more than 30 during she's term of office. The first corgis -her name is "Susan"- is received as her 18th birthday present. And the dogs, even after Susan, most dogs are descendants of Susan. Besides, the Queen imports the new breed of dog named by a dorgi-mated with a corgi and a dachshund. The Queen Elizabeth is always with her puppies. Elizabeth now only has four dogs – two corgis and two dorgis. Because, she expresses her thinking that she no longer breeding new pets because she does not want to leave her lovely puppies when she dies.

It is famous that the Queen’s love for dogs and animal-especially corgis- extends throughout the world. In particular, I am touched by the Queen’s effort and support to animal such as Battersea dogs&cats home-the protection center of animal. I thought that was the one of the reason which is the Queen respected by Britain.

Would you dine at London's first naked restaurant?

According to the column, the restaurant “The Bunyadi” (a Hindi term meaning ‘fundamental’, ‘base’ or ‘natural’), which already has a waiting list of more than 4000, will be open for three months from June 2016. What special about this restaurant is, the restaurant will be London’s first naked restaurant.
On arrival, customers will be escorted to a changing room and light down the clothing. The customers can also be naked if they wish.
The restaurant will offer a menu which will all cooked on a wood fire and served on handmade clay crockery. Also they will use natural bamboo partitions and candlelight to create the mood. The masterminds, Lyall, believes people should get to experience a night out without any impurities: no chemicals, no electricity and even no clothes in order to be free from the “trappings of the industrialized-world”.

The project sounds so weird and incomprehensible for me, however, some vegans and naturists might think it rational since they can experience very fundamental night in a way.

Where do Harvard Business School MBA's work after graduating.

HBS organises the top MBA program in the world. Graduates regarded as “leader of business”. Some graduates start their own business as an entrepreneur, but most of them gonna be elite soldiers of companies. Where do they go?

See it in Industry, more than half of graduates chose Consulting or Financial services industry. Financial Services industry has decreased the share, on the other hand, IT industry success to get.

Consulting industry and Financial industry offers more salary year by year. It was 125k$ in 2011, now is 140k$. IT industry enhances their popularity double in 5 years, also getting their salary higher. 115k in 2011 and 125k in 2015. anyway, 75% of graduates chose Finance/Consulting/IT industry.

see in functions, consulting and finance is popular. Until 2012, these two have occupied 60%, now is just above 50%. on the other hand, General Management getting more popular.

The percentage of graduates who find a job in international getting lower. 20% in 2011 but 15% in 2015.85% of graduates decide to stay in the US, and half of them chose 3 cities. Boston, NY where wall street has and CA especially Silicon Valley.

the trend has not changed.
It’s a hard time for the Financial industry. Goldman Sachs have decided cut their salary. The financial industry is like “sell your soul and be rich” but perhaps we cannot be rich anymore.

Business school is expensive course, and this may force graduates work harder. I hope they will spend a healthy life.

Who are Lena Dunham and Susan Sarandon? Who they support in the Presidential race, and why??

Susan Sarandon.
(Lena Dunham: left, Susan Sarandon: right)

Lena Dunham is an actress, writer, producer and director. She is known for the HBO series Girls. Susan Sarandon is also an actress, and she is an Academy Award and BAFTA Award winner. She is known for her social and political activism for liberal causes. They are both from New York.
Lena Dunham supports Hilary Clinton because she believes that Hilary Clinton is a feminist who had fought for “women’s rights”. Dunham says that she was moved, and that it reminded her that women can all fight to rise above.
Susan Sarandon supports Bernie Sanders. She says the reason why she supports him is that “He’s been visible on all the issues that I care about for years and years and years". He opposed the war in Iraq, he stood up for gay men and women, and he also did some activities for climate and environment issues. Sarandon and Sanders have the same way of viewing problems.

The Washington Post: What are "Super Zips" and why are so many clustered around Washington DC?

According to the article, Super Zips are the zip codes which have a high percentage of residents with education and high income. Washington D.C. have many Super Zips, and the feature is many of these cluster around there.

The mechanism of this phenomenon isn’t complex. First, the rich people who “want to be in a place that has an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity” comes to the metropolitan area. On one hand, others who have lived there for a long time cannot pay the rent and they have to leave for outside because the prices of the lands got higher due to the increased demand. Therefore this leads to the repeating process of the wealthy population to swarm in the metropolitan area and the rest to live around them.

The reporter says this phenomenon causes the economically bipolarization. I think it’s dangerous for the American economy to lost middle-income class which plays an important role in Economic growth.

What happened to Intel?

Intel is announcing 12,000 layoffs, because of their failing to join a smartphone market. There are three main reasons for the failure.
First, the previous CEO, Paul Otellini, was not so willing to go into the mobile market.
Second, they turned down Apple's proposal to make chips for the iPhone; iPhone is one of the most prevailing devices, therefore they could have succeeded.
The other reason for their failure is they could not gain traction with their mobile-friendly chip, the Atom.

Another reason they have to cut many jobs comes from their blunder that they focused too much on desktop PC technology; in 2015, PC sales was worst, while the number of smartphone sales is increasing.

However, they have some strategies for the trouble. In a servers-market, they can take the initiative with their high-power computers. In also an area of IoT, they still have some possibilities to success.

Man Buns

Man buns — the hairstyle where men pull back their hair and tie a single bun on their head, often with a full beard, is the hot trend going on centered around hipsters. Giving an androgynous look by growing out their hair, man buns are the perfect hairdo for those hipsters who want to differentiate themselves from others.

Hipsters are a group of people who are not easily forced into stereotypes, those wanting to be the “outsider” of a group, constructing a character of being indifferent. This does not only refer to the hairstyles they wear, but also the music they listen to, the clothes they wear, and even the politicians they support. For example in the presidential election, many hipsters are rooting for Bernie Sanders, a socialist, to become President.

These hipsters being brainwashed of having the idea of “all different is good” and trying to give more hideous trends and ideas, like the man bun, needs to wake up and know that “not all different is good.”
